John L. Sullivan engages in a sleigh race on Washington Street.

December 31, 1882

The race held outside Yeaton’s saloon on Washington Street. When the pair of horses, tips over the sleigh he is driving, Sullivan kicks one of the horses and punches the other in the face. He is convicted of “fast driving and unnecessary cruelty in beating a horse” in January 1885.
